Ruse citizens continue to send petitions "against"
The mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov appealed to the minister of environment of Romania Mircea Feket about the disagreement of Ruse residents to build an incinerator for hospital waste in neighbouring Giurgiu.
The letter was sent earlier (on 25 August) to the Bulgarian Minister Julian Popovo and it encloses all the "against" statements, filed in the Municipality's office, as well as the petition organized by citizens, in which nearly 1700 people from Ruse are participated.
The official notification for the project was received by the Ruse Municipality on August 16, and the deadline for submission of comments to the department, specified by Minister Julian Popov, was August 25. Pencho Milkov urged the citizens to be active in order to make clear the opinion of the people of Ruse on the urgent issue. He opposed hasty decisions and expressed concern about possible impacts on the environment and human health.
In the meantime, one more petition has been submitted to Ruse Municipality since Friday, and additional negative opinions have been submitted. All of them will be summarized and sent to Minister Popov, as stated in the previous letter to him.
