Mayor Pencho Milkov awarded Ruse boxers for their success in the ring

Today the Mayor Pencho Milkov awarded with cash bonuses the athletes of the Boxing Club "Ruse" Sevda Assenova and Radoslav Rosenov and the athlete of the Boxing Club "Lokomotiv" Victorio Iliev. They were awarded for their performance at the traditional boxing tournament for the "Strandja" Cup, which was held in February in Sofia.

The meeting was also attended by the coaches of the boxers Sabi Sabev and Alexey Ribchev, as well as the vice-president of the Boxing Club "Ruse" Lyubomir Parashkevov. They received the bonuses on behalf of Vittorio Iliev and Radoslav Rosenov, who are currently at a training camp in Sofia, where they are preparing for the European Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia.

"It is not only children who have decided to take up boxing who can take an example from your fighting spirit. Your ability to stand up, even when you are not victorious, is a quality inherent in strong personalities that we need to nurture in our adolescents," the mayor said.

Athlete No. 1 of the Municipality of Ruse for 2022 Sevda Assenova became the champion of the "Strandja" Cup in the category up to 48 kg, after she won the final decisively over the representative of Uzbekistan. Asenova earned the gold medal and the runner-up trophy in the strong international tournament.

The other representative of the Boxing Club "Ruse" Radoslav Rosenov defended his title in the tournament, triumphing for the second year in a row with the gold medal in the category up to 60 kg against a boxer from Uzbekistan, which earned him the trophy of the tournament.

Another Ruse athlete, who made it to the honorary top ten for "Ruse Municipality Athlete of the Year 2022", also started the year strongly. Victorio Iliev, a competitor of Lokomotiv Boxing Club with coach Alexey Ribchev, won a gold medal at the World Youth Boxing Cup in Budva, Montenegro, where Victorio defeated the Russian Bilal Dakaev by 5:0 votes in the final. The young boxer and graduate of the Sports School "Major Atanas Uzunov" was chosen as the Sportsman of the Month - a title awarded by the management of the school.
