Mayor Pencho Milkov awarded Ruse karate champions for their success at the European Championship

Mayor Pencho Milkov presented cash prizes to the young athletes of the Sports Club "Ipon - Ruse" for the medals won during the Open European Championship in Karate Kyokushin - Can, held in the Romanian city of Cluj Napoca. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev and the Director of the Municipal Enterprise "Sports Properties" Lacezar Ivanov.

"With your dedication, discipline and perseverance, you have earned this remarkable success and have shown exceptional determination and skill in one of the most demanding martial arts," the mayor addressed the competitors. He wished them to continue to give reasons for pride to their hometown.

Elena Emanuilova won a gold medal in the category up to 55 years old, up to 16 years old. Gabriela Zamfirova is also proud of a gold medal up to 45 kg, up to 16 years old. The competitor of "Ipon - Ruse" Alexandra Barbova won a silver medal in the category up to 50 kg and up to 14 years old. Boris Vassilev has won a silver medal in the category up to 65 kg up to 18 years old. Magdalena Zdravkova won a silver medal from the competition in Romania up to 65 kg up to 16 years old. The competitors of the Sports Club "Ipon - Ruse" were accompanied by their coaches Ekaterina and Miroslav Barbovi, who were also congratulated by the mayor on the success of their graduates.

The next goals that the young athletes set for themselves are the Republican Cup "Pristis", which will be held in October in Ruse. Ivan Hristov will also compete at the upcoming national championship for men in December.

For their part, the competitors of the Ruse club shared what were the difficulties they went through during the European Championship in Romania to reach the honorary ladder.
