16 competitors of SC "Kalagia" at the Municipal Youth House – Ruse were awarded today by the Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov. This was at an impromptu short ceremony in the club's training room. The athletes were awarded for their last success as a national team winner of the Republican Wushu Championship, where the graduates of the chairman of the club and head coach Maria Nedelcheva won 56 medals.
"The results you achieve in the club are not only related to mastering skills in the field of Eastern martial arts, but here the training of mind and body has a profound influence on the character of those who exercise them. In addition to tournament achievements, you cultivate perseverance, perseverance and strict adherence to certain rules, resilience in facing difficulties and challenges, as well as respect for authorities and opponents. And these are qualities that are needed and valued more than ever in our modern society", said Pencho Milkov in his short address to the club members, coaches and parents of the young athletes.
The athletes received from the mayor a diploma and a medal of honor of the municipality of Ruse for their success. After them Pencho Milkov awarded the head coach of the club and chairman of SC "Kalagia" Maria Nedelcheva and senior coach Iskra Boneva, as Nedelcheva was awarded with a gold badge of the municipality of Ruse. When awarding the prize, Milkov did not fail to note the outstanding role of Nedelcheva over the past 30 years in establishing and strengthening the cultural exchange and economic cooperation of Ruse Municipality with China. She is also the founder and president of the Bulgarian-Chinese Friendship Society.
The competitors of SC "Kalagia" welcomed the mayor and his team with a short demonstration of martial arts, and the ceremony itself was attended by parents of the athletes.
