The new wooden pedestrian bridge on the lake in Lipnik Forest Park was officially opened today by Mayor Pencho Milkov. The event was attended by his deputies Dimitar Nedev, Encho Enchev, Nikola Lazarov and Borislav Rachev, as well as the chief architect of the Ruse Municipality Plamen Hristov and the representative of the contractor company, Eng. Rumen Yovchev.
"Just as the bridge connects two banks, people must also connect when they see that they are separated. I remember the first sketch that the engineer made, it is in a prominent place in my office, but now I can also put a photo next to it. I believe that the bridge will witness many interesting events," shared Pencho Milkov. He expressed his gratitude to the contractors of the facility - experts with experience, who created a site that will delight the residents of the municipality for decades to come.
According to Eng. Rumen Yovchev, who supervised the construction, this is the longest wooden bridge in the country. According to him, the strengthening of the facility is very serious, and it is no coincidence that wooden material was used to make the railing - in this way the bridge synchronizes with the environment around which it is installed. He added that the clearance between the water and the facility is sufficient as a distance for boats to pass. The design includes a glass railing and 7 glass windows, part of the floor, which will allow passers-by to observe the lake. The stylized hearts, which are located on the inside of the railing, are also impressive. This allows padlocks to be hung on the bridge - a symbol of love. The hearts and the two large coats of arms of the Municipality of Ruse, located on both outer sides of the railing, are the work of the head of the Industrial Design Department at the University of Ruse, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yordan Doychinov.
The wooden structure has a total length of 28 meters and is divided into three main elements. Lighting has also been built with energy-saving lamps with a motion sensor, which will make the bridge a preferred place for walks and in the evening. It is also planned to install video surveillance against possible vandalism.
Simultaneously with the construction of the bridge in the Lipnik Forest Park, several alleys were renovated, new bins were placed and new lighting was installed. In this way, the park will become even more attractive and convenient for the residents and guests of Ruse and Nikolovo, as the Ruse Municipality plans further activities to improve it in view of the upcoming hosting of the World Dragon Boat Championships in 2025.
The Tourism Advisory Council has set its priorities for 2025.
