Ruse celebrated 117 years of Bulgaria's Independence

With a solemn ceremony in front of the Freedom Monument, the people of Ruse celebrated the 117th anniversary of the declaration of Bulgaria's Independence.

"Today we mark the day when Bulgaria declared its independence to the whole world. This is not just a date on the calendar - it is a testament. A testament that a nation has the power to build its future when it stands upright and responsible before itself and before history." With these words, Mayor Pencho Milkov addressed those present at the event. Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov also delivered a speech for the holiday. Among the official guests were Deputy Mayors Encho Enchev, Dimitar Nedev and Nikola Lazarov, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Acad. Hristo Beloev, the Rector of the University "Angel Kanchev" Assoc. Prof. Dr. Desislava Atanasova, municipal councilors, representatives of political parties, state and municipal institutions, public figures and citizens.

On the occasion of the holiday, honor guards were built by Military Formation 32420 and the XIII Youth Guards Detachment at the Municipal Youth Center. The musical arrangement was entrusted to the Municipal Brass Band with conductor Dimcho Rubchev.

Clergy from the Holy Metropolis of Ruse served a thanksgiving prayer service and a requiem prayer for the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria.

The program was attended by the FA "Zornitsa", the Children's Vocal Group "Sun" at the Municipal Children's Center for Culture and Art led by Dr. Natalia Konstantinova, as well as the singer Julieta Ivanova.

As a sign of gratitude, representatives of political parties, institutions, organizations and citizens laid wreaths and flowers in front of the Freedom Monument.

The host of the ceremony was actor Dimitar Pishev.
