During the weekend the first initiative of the project of the Speleo Club "Akademik" "One Scout Summer in Ruse" took place on the Ruse pier near the Vitija Bridge. The event under the title "Why Scout?" gathered many guests from Ruse, Varna, Sofia and Svishtov, as well as members of the clubs "Cave Bear", "Vladislav Varnenchik" and "Prista Scout". The project is implemented with the support of the Municipal Foundation "Ruse - City of Free Spirit" and will continue with new events during the summer.
The forum was also attended by the Chief Scout of the Organization of Bulgarian Scouts Svetoslav Kazakov, leaders of scout clubs, as well as many children from Ruse and guests of the city.
They got acquainted with the Scout idea, specific activities and organization of the Scout movement in Ruse and around the world.
"We are very happy because we managed to awaken interest and attract new children to our scout family. All teenagers with an adventurous spirit are welcome to join us. Scouting gives a lot to children and teaches them responsibility, love and care for nature," said the organizers.
Chief Scout Svetoslav Kazakov showed how to tie special knots and how to light a fire in extreme conditions. The children were introduced to alpine and caving equipment, tasted scout lemonade, entered a tent and solved a puzzle. Those willing walked the slackline and learned symbolic words of the Scout Movement.
For the scouts from Varna and their hosts from Ruse the forum passed in a camp above the cave "Orlova Chuka". And two of the kids took their Scout Promise and received their national ties.
