Ruse marked 148 years since the death of Hristo Botev and paid tribute to those who died for the freedom of Bulgaria

The citizens of Ruse celebrated 148 years with a solemn ceremony and laying wreaths and flowers in front of the Memorial of the Fallen in the Wars for National Unification. from the death of Hristo Botev and paid tribute to those who died for the freedom of Bulgaria.

"Since childhood, we carry the memory of the howl of sirens every June 2nd. The date is gloomy, but memorable with the power of sacrifice. We honor the feat of Botev and his detachment, the glorious symbol of Okolchitsa and the light of the example that the heroes of Bulgaria leave us. "

With these words addressed the Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov to the gathered citizens of Ruse, officials and representatives of the local and state authorities.

A solemn speech was also delivered by the Regional Governor of Ruse Dragomir Draganov and Glavinitsky Bishop Macarius, vicar of Metropolitan Naum of Ruse.

The municipal brass band performed solemn marches, and the guard of honor was built as a tribute to the poet-revolutionary and those who died for the motherland. The ceremony was attended by the 13th Youth Guard Detachment at the Municipal Youth House.

Memorial prayer in memory of Hristo Botev and those who died for the freedom of the Fatherland were performed by priests from the Holy Bishopric of Ruse.

At 12 o'clock the sirens with which Bulgaria pays tribute to the revolutionary and the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the country were activated.

Host of the ceremony was the actor from the Sava Ognyanov Drama Theater Borislav Apostolov.
