Saturday, 13 December 2025

The Municipality of Ruse awarded three awards at the VI National Children's Creativity Competition "Christmas Star", which was held for the second time in the Danube city under the motto "Children Help Children". The event, which took place today in the Profit Building, was realized under the patronage of Vice President Iliana Yotova and Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov.

On behalf of the municipal leadership, Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev honored Raya Peteva and Bozhidara Yakimova in the "Singing" category and Mihaela Dimitrova in the "Fine Arts" category for exceptional talent, artistry and inspiration. In his welcoming speech, Rachev emphasized that the competition is an example of solidarity, compassion and the true spirit of Christmas - to give and support those in need. “Today we awarded children who showed their unique talent. But the real prize is the smile and joy that all participants brought to the audience. May this competition continue to inspire and show that when children create and support each other, then the world becomes better,” said the deputy mayor.

This year, 75 children from all over the country reached the final of the competition, and the youngest performer was the 4-year-old singer from Tutrakan, Ilona Georgieva. The young artists were evaluated by a professional jury in three categories. Ivan Lechev, Haigashod Agasyan, Etienne Levi, Zheni Lecheva, Bonka Skorchelieva, Gancho Gavazov, Diyan Ivanov and Vili Ikonomov – an honorary member of the jury, determined the winners in the “Singing” category. In the "Fine Arts" section, Elena Velikova - an art critic, and Ralitsa Karagyozova - a cultural scientist, selected the most talented representatives, and in the "Literature" category, the winners were named by Kalina Grancharova - a journalist, and Svetlana Petkova - a teacher.

The finalists received diplomas, statuettes, material and cash prizes, including a Special Award from the Vice President and the "I Love, Dream, Create" Association. The big "Christmas Star" went to the vocal group "Chocolate". Teodora Angelova received the Vice President's Award for drawing, and Gabriela Kostadinova and Borislava Borisova - for singing.

A charity Christmas market with souvenirs made by children was set up in the lobby of the Income Building throughout the day. The funds raised this year will also be donated to the "Alexander Rusev" Foundation for the construction of a children's rehabilitation center, for which the Ruse Municipality provided free land for the building.

A special greeting to the audience and the laureates was presented by the ballet "Impulse" at the Municipal Youth Center in Ruse and the Children's and Youth Folklore Ensemble "Zornitsa" at the Municipal Children's Center for Culture and Art in Ruse.
