Ruse Municipality presented the results of the project to improve air quality through the delivery of electric buses and trolleybuses

The final press conference of the project "Improvement of air quality through the purchase and delivery of electric vehicles for road transport - electric buses and trolleybuses for the Municipality of Ruse", financed by the Operational Programme "Environment" 2014-2020, part of the activities to ensure publicity and communication under the Project, was held today in the Meeting Hall of Ruse Municipality.

The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor Dimitar Nedev, the Executive Director of Municipal Transport Ruse Ltd Alexander Georgiev and the project management team. The implemented activities, achieved results and indicators were presented.

Ruse Municipality has been implementing the project since 22. 10. 2019 in partnership with Municipal Transport Ruse. Its main objective is to protect the environment and reduce PM10 by improving the characteristics of vehicles serving municipal transport in the municipality. Within the framework of the project, 20 electric buses and 15 trolleybuses, 20 charging stations at the trolleybus depot and 4 fast charging stations via pantographs have been purchased and delivered. The supplier of the vehicles is the Czech brand SOR-Libhavi and the contractor is Biofrog CZ Ltd.

The replacement of 15 trolleybuses built between 1982 and 1984 will improve the energy efficiency of urban transport and significantly reduce the levels of fine particulate matter in the atmosphere. Thus, the project contributes to the achievement of Specific Objective 1 "Reduction of air pollution by lowering the amount of FPH10/NOx" under Priority Axis 5 "Improvement of Ambient Air Quality" of the 2014-2020 CFSP.

The total investment of the project is BGN 46 771 464,30. lasting 50 months. The financial contribution of Ruse Municipality is BGN 137 032. The financing authority is the Operational Programme "Environment" 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Union through the Cohesion Fund.
