The competitor of Boxing Club "Ruse" Sevda Assenova triumphed with the European title at the women's championship in Budva, Montenegro. The five judges were unanimous with their scores for the Bulgarian national in the category up to 48 kilograms, who totally defeated Roberta Bonatti (Italy) in the dispute for the gold. We remind that Assenova already has three gold and three silver medals from the championships on the Old Continent, and this year she won bronze from the World Championships in Istanbul.
Venelina Poptoleva (52 kg) and Svetlana Kamenova (57 kg) also took part in the tournament in Budva and won silver medals, while Stanimira Petrova (54 kg) won bronze. Zlatislava Chukanova (50 kg) took fifth place and Gabriela Dimitrova (60 kg) was ninth. Thus, the Bulgarian national team took third place in the team standings of the European Boxing Championships with 17 points, with the first position going to Ireland with 36 points, followed by the boxers of Ukraine with 27.
