The Alexander Rusev Charity Tournament gathers swimmers from all over the country on August 24 and 25

On August 24 and 25 (Saturday and Sunday) the Danube Swimming Complex in Ruse will host the ninth edition of the Alexander Rusev Charity Swimming Tournament. The event is organized by the foundation of the same name and is of a charitable nature, and the funds raised will go to the construction of a water rehabilitation center for children and adults with mental and physical difficulties.
The tournament will be held in a 25-meter pool, and swimming clubs from Ruse and all over the country are invited to participate. The competitors will be divided into two age groups: the first includes girls and boys born in 2015 and 2016, and the second group will include children born in 2013 and 2014.
During the event, those who wish will be able to buy handmade products to support the noble cause. The souvenirs that will be exhibited are the work of the mothers of the competitors from the "Golden Fish" team, led by Ilian Rusev - Skuri.
The event is part of the efforts of the Alexander Rusev Foundation to support disadvantaged people. We remind you that in October 2023, a contract was signed for the establishment of a gratuitous and indefinite right to build in favor of the foundation on a municipal property intended for the construction of a specialized water rehabilitation center. The idea was proposed by the Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov and supported with full unanimity by the Municipal Council.
Since 2016, the founder of the foundation, Ilian Rusev - Skuri, has been providing free water classes with therapeutic and rehabilitation orientation to over 100 children with disabilities, with a schedule in the pool located in the building of the Sports School in Ruse. In order to increase the intensity of the activities and to provide quality therapy for children and adults, the desire of the foundation is to develop its activities in a separate specialized center. The project envisages the construction of a two-storey building located on ul. "Rui Planina" in Ruse with a total area of 3800 m2.
