The Mental Health Center in Ruse presented its integrated care model to Romanian specialists

The first international meeting between the Center for Mental Health and representatives of social services from Giurgiu was held in Ruse. The delegation included Visinel Costel Balan – Executive Director of the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection in Giurgiu, Constanta Paraskivescu – Deputy Executive Director of the Directorate, and Sorina Mirela Neacsu – Head of the Department for Regulatory Control and Quality Management of Social Services. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Temenuzhka Mateva, Manager of the Center for Mental Health – Ruse.

During the visit, the guests visited the inpatient treatment wards, the outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation units, as well as the social services provided on the territory of the Center. They were introduced to the comprehensive approach that combines medical, therapeutic, rehabilitation and social activities. Particular attention was paid to the seven residential services offering quality care for people with mental disorders and dementia, as well as support for their families.

The Romanian delegation had the opportunity to talk to patients and users of residential services, who welcomed them with excitement and presented them with gifts made by them.

The event gave the Center the opportunity to present its activities as an innovative and reliable provider of social services, as well as to emphasize the professionalism and dedication of its teams. The organization of the visit – from logistics and translation to presentations and the program – was implemented by the team of the Family Accommodation Center “St. Petka” at the Center for Mental Health – Ruse.

During the meeting, opportunities for future cross-border cooperation and joint initiatives aimed at improving the quality and sustainability of social services and strengthening ties between Bulgaria and Romania were discussed.
