The Navy will celebrate 145 years since its establishment in Ruse

On August 5 /Monday/ in Ruse will be celebrated the 145th anniversary of the establishment of the Naval Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria. The events are supported by the Municipality of Ruse and the Regional Administration.

At 4:30 p. m. in the Conference Hall of the local administration, Mayor Pencho Milkov will meet with the Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov, and will award three servicemen from the Navy.

At 6:15 p. m. , in front of the building of the Navy Tower, the ceremony of laying flowers in front of the memorial plaque of the first commander of the Bulgarian Navy and founder of the Naval School - Lieutenant Commander Alexander Konkevich will begin.

At 7 p. m. , a military ritual of laying wreaths and flowers will be held in front of the only Monument to the Sailor in Bulgaria /ul. "Edirne" 9/. "This is where Bulgarian seafaring begins," reads the inscription on the monument, from where the celebrations on the occasion of the founding of the Navy traditionally begin every year.

At 8 p. m. in front of the building of the Profitable Building, the festive concert of the Representative Brass Band of the Navy will begin, which will also mark the 140th anniversary of the establishment of the Naval Orchestra.

On August 12, 1879, the military fleet of Bulgaria was established in the city of Ruse. At the end of the 19th century, a fleet was created on the Black Sea. On November 12, 1897, the Flotilla and the Naval Unit were divided into the Danube Flotilla with headquarters in Ruse and the Naval Unit (Black Sea Fleet) with headquarters in Varna
