A project of ''The Danube Lights''  Association provides shelter and care for stray cats in Ruse

''The Danube Lights''  Association has launched an initiative on the occasion of World Cat Day - August 8. The project is titled "Home is where it is . . . cat" and is aimed at providing real care, welfare and protection of street stray animals in Ruse and in particular stray cats. The initiative is funded by the program of Overgas Networks "Sineva", which encourages volunteering and charity work of its employees, and is supported by the Municipality of Ruse in compliance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 26 on the possession, keeping and control of animals on the territory of the municipality.

The desire of the organizers is to change the living conditions of street cats by providing them with shelter. In August and September, 10 houses will be assembled by the employees of Overgas. They will be placed in pre-specified places where citizens can take care of stray cats. 

In October and November, the remaining 10 houses will be assembled, and their production will be carried out by students in different schools in Ruse and under the guidance of their teachers and volunteers from Overgas. Their deployment will also be carried out in places allowed for this purpose.

With the assembly of houses and the provision of a kind of home for stray cats, "Danube Light" will start further activities for their care - neutering, feeding and treatment.

The organizers of the initiative hope that the project "Home is where it is . . . The Cat" will provide a real opportunity to solve the issue of stray animals through the joint actions of non-governmental organizations, the municipality, the business and the Ruse community.
