The New Academic Year for Ruse University "Angel Kanchev" Has Begun

Over 1500 new students enter the University's halls this year
Today the new academic year was opened with a solemn ceremony at Ruse University "Angel Kanchev".
"Dear students, give your best for Ruse and for Bulgaria. You are our future," Mayor Pencho Milkov greeted the graduates of the Ruse Alma Mater. He stressed that in his work as mayor of Ruse Municipality he will continue to rely on the expertise of the university scientists for his management decisions.
"For us, students from the University of Ruse are always a priority and we prefer them to come for an internship and become our employees who will later take care of Ruse residents," he added.
"For 77 years Ruse University has been successfully developing for the benefit of young people, business and society. This dignified age is a proof of the sustainability of the established academic traditions and of the openness and adaptability to innovations and dynamic changes in higher education on a global scale", said the Rector Acad. Today, the University of Ruse prepares specialists in over 50 bachelor's degree programmes in 23 professional fields. Over 70 master's degree programmes and over 50 doctoral degree programmes are offered. The European and national programmes that the University works on give its graduates the chance to gain knowledge and experience at other universities in the country and abroad.
More than 1,500 students will enter the university's classrooms for the first time this year, with 29 of them admitted with the highest competition score.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Mayors of Ruse Municipality Encho Enchev, Dimitar Nedev. Zlatomira Stefanova and Magdalina Ilieva, the Chairman of the Municipal Council - Ivo Pazardzhiev and the Metropolitan of Ruse - Naum. Good luck to the students and postgraduates wished also the regional governor Anatoly Stanev, the chairman of the Student Council Angel Ivanov and the student in the first year, specialty "Law" - Kristiyana Ignatova.
