The operator of Ruse Airport submitted documents for its certification for civil flights

"Airport Ruse" Ltd, which has been operating Ruse Airport since the beginning of this year, has submitted documents to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Administration (DG CAA) for the issuance of a certificate of operational fitness of a civil airport under the Civil Aviation Act.

The submission of the documents is part of the company's Master Plan and is a continuation of Airport Ruse's investment intentions to develop Ruse Airport as a civil airport, expanding the opportunities and improving the conditions for providing aviation services. This will enable the take-off and landing of Airbus 320 and Boing 737 aircraft, and the construction of one or two hangars for aircraft maintenance is also planned.

Significant investment has been made in recent months to modernise the airport. The lighting system of the runway was built, as Ruse Airport is the first in Bulgaria with LED lighting with solar batteries. The 9-kilometer perimeter fence was built, the site was completely cleaned, and the passenger terminal building was renovated and preserved. Two wind indicators have also been installed, which meet specific ICAO requirements. Stationary and mobile fuel tankers have also been purchased.
We would like to remind you that at the end of February this year, following a decision of the Municipal Council of Ruse, voted almost unanimously, the Municipality concluded a contract with Airport Ruse Ltd. The company is owned by Antoni Tarnitsov, an expert in the field of Bulgarian aviation, who also has experience from his work on the concession analysis of Ruse Airport in 2017, and Hristo Krusharski, whose business is related to airplane extraction and hail control systems. With the attraction of the investor, the municipal budget was also freed from the annual maintenance of the airport. For the calendar year 2022 its amount reached 91 thousand BGN, as the municipal enterprise "Parkstroy" took care of the maintenance until the conclusion of the contract.
