The organization of the Canoe Kayak World Cup Marathon in Ruse has started

The competition will be held in early June next year at the dam in the village of Nikolovo
Experts from Ruse Municipality and the Bulgarian Canoe Kayak Federation are part of the organizing committee preparing Ruse to host the Canoe Kayak World Cup Marathon.
The race will be held from June 2-4, 2023 at the rowing base of the dam in Nikolovo village, with hundreds of participants expected from all over the world.
"With all our actions around the preparation of the World Cup we strive to improve the infrastructure of our rowing base and the condition of the forest park as a whole," said Mayor Pencho Milkov.
"The Lipnik Forest Park is a favourite place of the people of Ruse and it can really become a wonderful base for sport and recreation again," said the chairman of the Bulgarian Canoe Kayak Federation Nikolay Buhalov.

The mayor of Ruse announced that the public tender for the construction of sports corridors for the rowers in the dam has already been announced. There is also the design of a cycle path along its southern bank, which is used by the coaches for training and competitions, as well as the repair of the road between Chervena Voda and Nikolovo. Removal of reeds in the pond will also continue. After the old municipal equipment was repaired last year and rowers volunteered to clean up, the municipality will rent a high quality machine.
According to the decision of the Sports Minister Vesela Lecheva the municipality was granted 270 thousand. lv. for the repair of the halls. The local administration will also receive additional funds from the European Commission, as it won a project dedicated to sport under the Erasmus+ programme.
The Bulgarian Canoe-Kayak Federation has applied for a programme to provide hosts and is also awaiting funds from the sports ministry to organise the cup.

In addition to paddling, the canoe-kayak marathon includes portaging the canoe or kayak and running the portage (minimum 80m) after each lap. The Canoe Kayak World Cup Marathon will feature juniors, girls, men and women. The shortest discipline is 3. 6 km and the longest - 36 km.
