Within the framework of the project "Graffiti Festival. Port of 60 Ship Statues", funded by the Culture Program of the Municipality of Ruse, eight world-renowned and Bulgarian visual artists join forces with 30 young artists from Ruse schools to create contemporary art. The organizer of the initiative is the Ecoart Association, which puts graffiti at the center of the project as the most democratic and public form of youth art.
Among the established participants in the project, who will participate live and online, are the names of: Maria Ivanova, Nina Lishovska and Ivan Ivanov-Yoaniy from Ruse, Bulgaria; Zhivko Terziivanov from San Francisco, USA; Alexander Tsanev from Sofia; Susumo Endo (in memoriam) from Japan, represented by his son Etsuro Endo from Finland; Gergana Popova from Vienna, Austria; Yoana Tudzharova from Cologne, Germany.
Leading partners in the project are the National School of Arts "Prof. Veselin Stoyanov", English Language High School "Geo Milev", Vocational High School of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy "Penyo Penev", as well as the Secondary School of European Languages "Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher".
The theme of the project - "Port of 60 Ship Statues", refers to the heritage of the Roman Empire and its border along the Danube Limes. The name of Ruse from this period - Sexaginta Prista, translates as "Port for 60 ships". The artistic concept inspires and provokes the artists to offer a new look at the cultural heritage and identity of the city, located on the banks of the Danube River.
The project will start with an official opening on October 15 at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Dokhodno zdanie in Ruse. The artistic workshops will be held in the period October 16-18 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the "ArtStart" hall of the National School of Arts in Ruse ( "Slivnitsa" 3 str.).
The public demonstration of the project results will take place on October 19 in the lobby of the Dokhodno zdanie.
