The Deputy Mayor of Ruse Municipality Zlatomira Stefanova hosted today a meeting with the Ambassador of France to Bulgaria H.E. Joël Meyer, the President of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Stéphane Delahaye and its representatives. During the meeting, the investment environment in Ruse and the surrounding area, the strategy for the development of the region and for attracting foreign investors, as well as traditional sectors and industries were discussed.
"The main priority of the Municipality of Ruse is to build trust between the business and the administration. Our advantage is the fact that we are always available for dialogue, and I think that Ruse companies have already convinced themselves that the municipality works entirely on the principle of transparency," said the Deputy Mayor. She stressed that the Municipality of Ruse has not stopped offering assistance and working solutions to businesses in the city and the region. Zlatomira Stefanova also shared about the several meetings that the municipality has held with business representatives in the region in connection with their unification into economic zones, the implementation of which is one of the priorities of the local administration.
H. E. Joel Meyer and his team wanted to find out how favorable the environment in the region is for foreign investment. The Deputy Mayor pointed out some of the companies that have started production in the city in recent years, all of which have held a number of preliminary meetings with Mayor Pencho Milkov and his team. According to her, business feels Ruse not only as an attractive place for investment, but also as a region that provides real opportunities.
The key sectors developed in the municipality, such as transport connectivity, light engineering and the production of various parts for the industry, were also discussed with the representatives of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Zlatomira Stefanova pointed out the efforts made by the Municipality of Ruse to improve the urban environment, not only through the municipal budget, but also through the implementation of projects with European funds. She also pointed out the various cultural events that enrich the social life in the city and small settlements. These, together with the ambitious initiative to include robotics and computer coding in all educational institutions and kindergartens, are a key factor in the desire of the citizens of Ruse to stay and develop in the city.
Zlatomira Stefanova also talked with the representatives of FBCCI about the problems faced by the business, such as the lack of staff. They united around the idea that the common responsibility of parents, local and state authorities is to direct young people to professions that meet the needs of business according to the economic profile of the regions. An example was given the growth of the electric vehicle industry and the lack of a sufficient number of engineers. According to the Deputy Mayor, only if there is an adequate distribution of the labor market, young people could be successfully realized.
At the end of the meeting, opportunities for cooperation were discussed, as well as support for the development of bilateral economic relations.
