Ruse welcomed Epiphany with a ritual water service and throwing the cross into the waters of the Danube. In the traditional St. Jordan's Day race took part 12 braves, 23-year-old Alexander Georgiev was the fastest and reached the Epiphany Cross first. The youngest of the participants was 20 years old and the oldest - 37. Valentin Tsvetkov, who took out the cross last year, also joined the race.
The event is organized by the Holy Metropolis of Ruse with the assistance of the Ruse Municipality and the Ruse Regional Administration.
It was preceded by a liturgical procession, which started in front of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the ceremony of throwing the cross began at 11:30 a. m. on the Pontoon under the Riga Hotel. The Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov, the Governor of Ruse Region Danail Kovachev and his deputy Georgi Georgiev, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Acad. Hristo Beloev, the head of the Military District I degree - Ruse Col. The 13th Youth Guard Unit of the Municipal Youth Home also participated in the celebration.
Alexander Georgiev, who is a financier and a banker, wished health to himself and to all the people of Ruse.
