On April 20 /Saturday/ at 12 pm at the City Stadium in Ruse will start the ultramarathon "Danube 24 hours running". After the success of the first edition this year, more than 100 athletes from 8 countries have entered the race. This became clear at a press conference today, where details of the sporting event were given. It was attended by the Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev, the Director of ME  "Sports Estates" Lachezar Ivanov, the athlete and organizer of the event Vihren Ivanov-Viro and the President of the Sports Athletics Club "Dunav" Evgeni Ignatov. the 24-hour ultramarathon on a track is organized with the support of Ruse Municipality.

"Thank you for again choosing Ruse to host this important sporting event," said Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev.

The disciplines in which the athletes will compete on Saturday are individual: 6, 12 and 24 hours. There will be a 50km, 100km and 100 mile relay, as well as a relay of three runners running 2 hours each.
The ultramarathon will end on April 21 at 12 pm when the best athletes will be awarded. The event is free for spectators.

This year "Danube 24 Hours Run" will be held with a cause - to support the Alexander Rusev Foundation for the construction of the water-rehabilitation center for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. There will be a donation box set up in the stadium during the race.

The municipality of Ruse will provide funds from its budget for geodetic measurements of certain distances in open urban spaces such as the Central City and the two parks, so that marathons can be held outside the stadiums. The aim of such an initiative is to allow more people to experience the sport and be attracted by running, as well as to promote Ruse as a sports destination.

Pencho Milkov met with the athlete of Lokomotiv Boxing Club Viktorio Iliev and his coach Alexey Ribchev. The mayor awarded the young Ruse boxer for the title in the category up to 60 kg at the European Boxing Championships for juniors and girls, which took place a few days ago in Porec, Croatia.

"Your victories in the ring are not only a triumph that is appreciated by the sporting public, but they also determine how you will influence society as a whole and especially adolescents. My advice to you is to influence others so that they see in your face a calm and balanced person who uses his strength to take care of the weaker ones", the mayor addressed the Ruse athlete. He wished Viktorio Iliev success in the next competitions for which he is preparing.

In the city of Porec the boxer showed his best and defeated the Ukrainian Bogdan Celdik with a score of 4:3 in the final match. His coaches in Croatia, as part of the national team, were the Olympic champion Stoyka Krasteva and Fikret Eredzebov.

The young boxer shared his expectations for the upcoming Olympic Games, which will take place this summer in Paris. He has won a quota for participation and hopes to represent Ruse and Bulgaria properly.

In 2023, Viktorio Iliev won a gold medal at the Junior World Boxing Cup in Budva, Montenegro. For his success he was again awarded a cash prize by the Mayor of Ruse Municipality.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev and the Director of ME "Sports Properties" Lachezar Ivanov.

The Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov received an interesting gift from the pupils of the Private Kindergarten "Smehorania" in Ruse - a film about the sculptor of the Freedom Monument Arnaldo Dzoki. "Freedom from Bronze and Stone" was made together with the children from the Bulgarian school "Asen and Ilia Peikov" in Rome and Florence, Italy, and tells about the commonalities between the three cities.

"Thank you for the great idea, I hope others will follow! Arnaldo Dzocchi and his other contemporaries have bequeathed memorable works. We should all think about what we will leave behind," Pencho Milkov said to the children from "Smehorania". They greeted the mayor with performances about the Apostle of Freedom and Bulgarian history. The pupils of the private kindergarten and its director Mariana Stateva received congratulations and certificates for the patriotic initiative.

"Freedom from Bronze and Stone" was made by the children with the help of their teachers and tells the story of the Freedom Monument created by Dzoki. The film is 10 minutes long and is in Bulgarian with Italian subtitles. It has been worked on for almost 4 months, and its final version was ready in August 2023.

The film won an award at the International Media Festival "Harlequin in Rome" for the youngest participants.

Arnaldo Dzocchi was born in 1862 in Florence, Italy. His works unite dozens of cities around the world and are scattered on 4 continents. In Bulgaria, Dzoki also made the monumental equestrian statue of the Tsar Liberator in Sofia, as his work are bronze sculptures of monuments in Sevlievo, Lovech, Oryahovo, the Dryanovo Monastery and a sculptural fountain in Plovdiv. In 1909 in Ruse was completed the Monument of Freedom, designed by the Italian and made by Georgi Kiselinchev.

The day before Easter, on May 4, for the ninth consecutive year, the free walking tours in Ruse "Ruse Summer Free Tour" start. They are aimed at both Bulgarian and foreign visitors, as well as the city's residents, and their route includes the most emblematic buildings and places in the central parts of Ruse.

Again this year, the tours will take place every Saturday from May to September inclusive. They will start at 6 pm in front of the Freedom Monument, where professionals and enthusiasts from the tourism industry in the region will tell the history and urban legends of the places that visitors will pass by during the tours.

Behind the volunteer initiative "Ruse Summer Free Tour" is the NGO "CultureTour Ruse". It involves a group of Russians who, in their own words, "put time and effort into the tour because they love Ruse". The supporters believe that the initiative expresses the typical free spirit of our city, to which they hope the people of Ruse will aspire.

"It's about realising an event that brings something other than immediate profit or material gain. The idea is to help Ruse to develop its potential as a tourist destination and indirectly to improve the economic situation of its inhabitants", says the organizer of the tours, Desislava Mihailova.

2500 amateurs and professionals from 80 dance schools and schools from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Malta and Romania will compete for the awards of the eighth edition of the International Dance Competition MOVMNT - Ruse, 2024.

One of the most prestigious dance events in the country will be held on April 6 and 7. The organizer is the eponymous non-profit organization (MOVMNT International Dance Competition) and the partner of the event is Ruse Municipality.

14 judges from Bulgaria, Belgium, Italy, Malta, Romania, Russia, Hungary and France will evaluate the participants. Chairman of the judging panel is Tsvetanka Gerginova.
"MIDC is more than a dance competition. Our unique environment provides an opportunity to demonstrate the mental and physical discipline that is necessary to be a dancer, while encouraging the exceptional confidence that is needed to be a performer. Year after year, our team is ready to inspire dancers and create memories for life. Let's build the dancers of tomorrow today," the organizers share.

For connoisseurs of dance art from Ruse and the guests of the city is provided free access to the Great Hall of the Dokhodno Zdanie on both days from 8:00 to 21:00.

The first competition program on April 6 includes dance styles from classical ballet and neoclassical, to characteristic dances, jazz and contemporary and lyricle. On April 7, the jury will evaluate the mastery of the dancers in the styles: Modern, Acro Dance, MTV, Urban and K Pop.

In addition to cash prizes, the best dancers will also receive financially secured invitations to participate in prestigious international competitions and master classes in Europe and the United States.
