Over 170 students took part today in Ruse in a sports initiative dedicated to the fight against addictions. The event in the Youth Park was organized by the Rotary Club "Danube", the Regional Department of Education - Ruse and the Sports Athletics Club "Danube". It included two disciplines - cross and relay. Children from 5. to 7. grade from "Ivan Vazov" Primary School, "V. Aprilov" Primary School, "Vazrazhdane" Secondary School, "Baba Tonka" High School, "O. Panov" Primary School, "Vasil Levski" Secondary School, "Friedrich Schiller" Secondary School, "A. Konstantinov" Primary School and "St. Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher" Secondary School.
The event was held under the title "With the Heart of an Enlightener, with the Power of a Winner. Together against addictions". The chairperson of the Rotary Club of Ruse, Galya Pencheva, explained that the goal is for students to engage in activities that are good for health in their free time. "Through sports, we help them not to fall into companies where substances prohibited by law are used," said Pencheva, who wished everyone success, positive emotions and sportsmanship.
Iskra Ivanova – Chairperson of the Municipal Council on Narcotic Substances and Head of the Health Activities Department in the Municipality of Ruse, presented a congratulatory address on behalf of the Mayor Pencho Milkov. It says that promoting a healthy lifestyle helps young people respond to challenges and successfully overcome them.
Galya Pencheva emphasized the good cooperation with the Municipality of Ruse, the Regional Education Department - Ruse, Rumen Nikolaev and his initiative "Independent of dependencies", etc. The Head of the Department of Organizational and Methodological Activity and Control at the Regional Education Department Boryana Petkova also congratulated the parents, teachers and children present.
The winners of the first three places received a cup, a diploma, a medal and a T-shirt, and all participants were awarded with a sports backpack with the inscription "Together against addictions in children".

Two pupils and one student will be awarded the annual Ruse - 21. century" this year. The winners of the award will be announced on October 31 /Thursday/ in the Europe Hall of the Dokhodno zdanie, when the Municipality of Ruse will celebrate the Day of the National Revival Leaders with a festive concert entitled "May they remain in glory and honor".
Award "Ruse – 21. century" is awarded to graduates of Ruse educational institutions who have achieved success at national and international competitions, Olympiads, competitions and scientific forums. In 2024, there were a total of 11 proposals for its winners. They were reviewed and evaluated by a special committee, and the winners will receive an award created by the sculptor Maya Kubratova, as well as an accompanying diploma.
And another prestigious award will be presented during the event. The teacher of "History and Civilization" from "Hristo Botev" Secondary School Dr. Presiyan Kostadinov will be awarded the National Award "Daskal Botyo Petkov". This year it will be awarded in Ruse by the chairman of the National Foundation "Hristo Botyov" Boyan Botyov, great-grandson of Hristo Botev's brother - General Kiril Botyov. The prize is awarded to a teacher in the humanities subjects Bulgarian language and literature, history and civilization, geography and philosophy at the high school stage of secondary education and is a badge of honor with the image of teacher Botyo Petkov, made by the artist and sculptor Georgi Nedyalkov.
The concert "Let them be in glory and honor" starts at 6 p.m. with free admission. A festive concert "Let them remain in glory and honor" is organized by the Municipality of Ruse on October 31 (Thursday), at 6 p.m., in the Europe Hall of the Dokhodno zdanie. During the event, which is on the occasion of the Day of the National Revival Leaders, the annual awards "Ruse – 21. century". The prestigious award is awarded to pupils and students from Ruse educational institutions for outstanding achievements and awards. In 2024, the holiday is marked by two significant anniversaries - 200 years since the publication of the "Fish Primer" and 225 years since the birth of its author - Dr. Petar Beron.
This year in Ruse will be presented the prestigious National Award "Daskal Botyo Petkov" to the National Foundation "Hristo Botyov" by its chairman Boyan Botyov, great-grandson of Hristo Botev's brother - General Kiril Botyov. According to the statute, the Daskal Botyo Petkov Award is awarded to a teacher in the humanities subjects: Bulgarian language and literature, history and civilization, geography and philosophy at the high school stage of secondary education.
The award is an honorary sign with the image of teacher Botyo Petkov, made by the artist and sculptor Georgi Nedyalkov, as well as an honorary diploma.

The management of "Lyuben Karavelov" Primary School – Ruse, represented by the principal Veselka Nikolaeva, donated today BGN 1500. of the Voluntary Formation at the Municipality of Ruse. The funds will be used to purchase backpack fire extinguishers, which will help volunteers in their fight against forest fires.
The donation was accepted by Georgi Ignatov, Director of the Public Order and Security Directorate in the Municipality of Ruse, in the presence of Chief Assist. Inspector Ivelin Dimitrov, head of the municipal voluntary formation, as well as four of its members.
Veselka Nikolaeva also announced that part of the proceeds from the upcoming Christmas market at the school will be directed to help the volunteers. She said with pride that graduates of the school are developing a new website - "Helping Heroes", which will support the detachments in their fight against forest fires.
Georgi Ignatov presented the director of the school with a letter of thanks from Mayor Pencho Milkov for the donation and pointed out that there are similar gestures are of great importance for supplying volunteers with the necessary equipment, especially in cases of forest fires. Their forces and resources are not inexhaustible and we would like to help through our charity event to help purchase backpack fire extinguishers for those ordinary people with unusually big hearts, fighting against the fire element - destructive for our native nature and our ecological system," the school said at the time.

On October 26 (Saturday) at 4 p.m. on ''Svoboda'' Square in Ruse will be held the first edition of the youth festival "Youth Together", organized by the Youth Parliament at the Municipal Youth House - Ruse. The event is aimed at young people and will show how they can meaningfully invest their time and efforts by finding a community of like-minded people with similar interests and values. The main mission of the organizers is to inspire adolescents to do good and actively participate in public life.
The festival will offer a variety of activities, including creative workshops, fun games, and interactive events. The Youth Parliament of Ruse, clubs at the Municipal Youth House, the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross (BRCY), the Preventive Information Center (PIC), the Organization of Bulgarian Scouts and Eurodesk will present their activities.
A special participation will be taken by famous young motivators such as the international chess master Elitsa Raeva, who will conduct chess games, and the swimmer and record holder of Guinness Teodor Tsvetkov. The instrumental group at English language school "Geo Milev", Adriana Vitanova and other talented young artists will also contribute to the atmosphere of the festival.
The event also includes the "Book for Book" initiative, dedicated to the Day of the National Revival Leaders, which will provide an opportunity for visitors to exchange books.
The evening will end with a youth horotheque on the square, in which all lovers of folk dances will be able to join. The culmination of the festival will be the concert of the special guest - the rap artist Boro the First, who will delight the audience with the favorite songs of the young people.
