On August 3 /Monday/ at 10:30 a.m. in the space around the large fountain on Freedom Square in Ruse, the national photography exhibition "Fix the Earth" will be opened. The event is organized by "HUMANA People to People" Bulgaria in partnership with the "Daedalus" School of Arts and with the assistance of the Ruse Municipality.

The exhibition presents 25 awarded photographs from the National Competition "Fix the Earth", which, through the power of visual art, draw attention to some of the most significant environmental challenges of our time - climate change, the protection of natural resources, responsible consumption and the circular economy. The authors of the photos are aged from 16 to 71 and are from all over the country.

After already visiting a number of Bulgarian cities, the exhibition arrives in Ruse as part of its national tour. The HUMANA Bulgaria project was recently awarded an award in the category “Social Project with Public Impact”, which is a recognition of its contribution to raising public awareness on the topics of sustainable development and environmental protection.

Visitors will be able to see works by professional and amateur photographers from all over the country, which recreate the impact of human activity on nature and send strong messages about the need for joint action for a better future. Among the topics covered in the exhibition are drought and water shortage, environmental pollution, biodiversity loss, the consequences of climate change, renewable energy and good examples of caring for nature.

The initiative unites representatives of business, the non-governmental sector, educational institutions and local authorities around the cause of sustainable development. The organizers believe that cooperation between different public spheres is the key to finding long-term solutions to environmental challenges.

The photo exhibition will remain available to those wishing to see it until the end of August.

A public discussion of the draft Municipal Annual Plan for Social Services for 2027 was held in the local administration building, organized in compliance with the regulatory requirements for social service planning. The forum brought together representatives of the municipal administration, state institutions, social service providers, non-governmental organizations, experts in the social sphere and citizens interested in the development of social policy at the local level.

Deputy Mayor Dimitar Nedev opened the discussion and emphasized the importance of joint work between institutions, service providers and the local community in building sustainable social policies.

“Strong social policy begins with the understanding that behind every service there is a human story. When we plan the development of social services, we invest in the peace of families, the dignity of the elderly and the security of people who need support. Our common task is to build an environment in which every resident of the municipality receives timely and quality care, tailored to their needs,” said Nedev.

He noted that the Municipal Annual Plan is a key tool for ensuring timely and adequate support for the residents of the municipality. In its development, the requirements of the Social Services Act and the Social Services Planning Ordinance were met, using data from the National Social Services Map, the methodological guidelines of the Social Assistance Agency and a local needs analysis.

During the discussion, the Director of the Social and Health Activities Directorate, Milena Vlahova, and the Head of the Social Activities Department, Pavleta Yordanova, presented the vision for the development of social services in the Municipality of Ruse in 2027. The planned activities provide for increasing the quality and effectiveness of existing services, expanding the opportunities for supporting vulnerable groups and improving the material base.

The measures are aimed at children and adults with disabilities, the elderly, families at risk, people experiencing crisis situations, as well as other groups in a vulnerable situation, in accordance with the provisions of the Social Services Act.

During the public discussion, the participants made suggestions and recommendations related to the future development of social services in the municipality. The opinions expressed will be analyzed and, where applicable, will be reflected in the final version of the Municipal Annual Plan for Social Services for 2027.

The finalized version of the plan will be publicly available on the website of the Municipality of Ruse, after the process of summarizing and reflecting the opinions received has been completed.

The summer program "ScreenFree" of the Local Commission for Combating Antisocial Behavior of Minors and Juveniles at the Ruse Municipality continues. The second stage started at the end of last month with the main goal of preventing screen addiction in children. The initiative is aimed at students from 1st to 4th grade between the ages of 7 and 10, with 10 groups of 5 adolescents each.

The first stage of the program was held in the period March - May and included informational talks and lectures with parents aimed at raising awareness about the risks of early use of digital devices.

While informational meetings in schools draw parents' attention to the problem, the second stage offers a practical solution for the children themselves. The program is based on an original, scientifically based methodology, developed to develop natural mechanisms for concentration, emotional balance and self-regulation without the use of digital screens.

In the ScreenFree Center hall, participants learn practical skills to control impulsivity and hyperactivity caused by excessive screen time, to improve concentration and attention stability during learning and daily activities, as well as to calm down physically and emotionally through specialized self-regulation techniques.

The classes are held in the form of 90-minute group sessions, and the effect of the work is monitored through objective indicators of focus and calmness. After each group session, an individual report and monitoring are prepared for each child.

The ScreenFree Summer Program will continue until August 24.

In front of the monument to Vasil Levski in the Park of the National Revivalists, today the people of Ruse celebrated 189 years since the birth of the Apostle of Freedom. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Encho Enchev, Deputy Regional Governor Dr. Valeri Yordanov, Commander of Military Formation 32420 Pavlin Iliev, Chief of Military District 1st Class Colonel Vasil Petrov, representatives of state and local authorities, municipal councilors, representatives of the Holy Metropolis of Ruse and citizens.

In his address to those present, Deputy Mayor Encho Enchev emphasized that the Apostle’s testaments continue to be a moral guide for modern society. “Levski’s words “Deeds are needed, not words” resonate with the same force today. They remind us that the future is created by our daily choices – with integrity, with care for others, with respect for the law and with the desire to leave behind a better world. This legacy obliges us to be worthy of the example of those who believed that Bulgaria could be strong when its citizens were free, educated and responsible,” said Encho Enchev.

A speech on the occasion of the anniversary was also delivered by the Deputy Regional Governor Dr. Valeri Yordanov, who stated that the name of the Apostle should be carried by Bulgarians as a moral compass every day. “Let us not allow in our daily lives that quiet slavery that makes a person bow his head and believe that nothing depends on him.”

A prayer service of thanks for Vasil Levski was served by priests from the Holy Metropolis of Ruse, and official guests and citizens presented wreaths and flowers as a sign of gratitude for the work of the great Bulgarian.

During the ceremony, the Municipal Brass Orchestra presented its performances. On the occasion of the memorable date, Hristo Kostov performed an excerpt from Ivan Vazov's ode "Levski", and Tsvetelina Topalova sang the song "You are alive, Apostle".

The host of the ceremony was the actor from the troupe of the State Theater "Sava Ognyanov" Borislav Apostolov.

Municipal Transport Ruse" participates as a partner in the European project "LIFE MOONSET", which aims to develop and implement an innovative transport service for people working in shifts or outside public transport hours. The project "IMplementing a NOcturnal, EcO-FrieNdly, and Integrated SharEd Transportation Concept" is implemented with the financial support of the European Union under the "LIFE" Program through the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and the Environment (CINEA). Its main goal is to offer a sustainable, environmentally friendly and accessible solution for moving to and from the workplace through shared transport on demand.
Demand - Responsive Transport (DRT) is a flexible transport service that is organized based on pre-ordered trips. Unlike traditional bus lines, it does not follow a fixed route and schedule, but adapts to the needs of passengers and their working hours.
Specialized software combines requests from passengers with similar routes and travel times, thus ensuring efficient use of vehicles and achieving a balance between travel time, costs and convenience for users.
The project is developing a model of a transport service with shared electric vehicles, designed for people who start or end work during hours when public transport is not operating. It will provide a reliable alternative to using a private car and will help reduce harmful emissions from transport.
The model is already being tested in Vienna and Lisbon, and the experience gained will be used in the preparation and implementation of the pilot activity in Ruse. The solution will be adapted to the specifics of the city, taking into account the transport network, the location of industrial zones and the needs of working citizens.
Currently, there are no permanent night public transport lines in Ruse, which makes it difficult for people with a shift work schedule to move around. The participation of "Municipal Transport Ruse" in the project enables the development of a sustainable transport service model, tailored to local conditions and good European practices.
The main objectives of the project are:
•    improving access to workplaces at night and in the early morning hours;
•    reducing greenhouse gas emissions from daily trips;
•    promoting the shared use of transport;
•    limiting dependence on private cars;
•    developing a model applicable in other European cities and industrial zones;
•    supporting efforts to develop cleaner and sustainable urban mobility.
At the end of the project, the partners will prepare a common concept for on-demand transport for night workers, practical guidelines for its implementation and a framework for its adaptation in other cities and organizations.
