string | description | At a solemn ceremony at the Kanev Center, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation of the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" celebrated its 50th anniversary. Special guests of the event were the Deputy Mayors Encho Enchev and Nikola Lazarov.
"Fifty years ago, this institution embarked on a mission to educate, inspire, and lead in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and automation. Since then, the faculty has grown, developed and adapted to the rapid advancement of technology and to the dynamic changes in industry and research. Through specialized teaching, cutting-edge research and an unwavering commitment to quality, the Faculty has consistently prepared generations of students to become leaders and visionaries in their fields," Encho Enchev addressed the attendees. He presented a plaque of the Municipality of Ruse to the Dean Assoc. Dr. Eng. Vyara Ruseva for the joint work. For his part, the Head of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation awarded the management of the Municipality of Ruse with a crystal prize, embodying the cooperation between the Ruse alma mater and the local administration.
The event was also attended by the Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov, the Rector of the University of Ruse Prof. Dr. Eng. Gencho Popov, the Honorary Rector and Chairman of the Municipal Council Acad. Hristo Beloev, the head of the Regional Education Department – Ruse Dr. Rositsa Georgieva, a priest from the Holy Metropolis of Ruse, as well as members of the academic management, former and current students.
By a decision of the Council of Ministers, the specialty "Electrification of Agriculture" was opened, and in 1974 - the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electrification of Agriculture, with new specialties "Electrical Supply and Electrical Equipment", "Automation of Production" and "Computer Technology". The rapid pace of development of cutting-edge technologies in the electrical and electronics industry necessitated in 1984 the reorganization of the Faculty into the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation, which became the largest educational unit of the university.
Over the past 5 years, about 1177 full-time and part-time students have been trained annually at the Faculty. To date, the academic staff includes 44 highly qualified lecturers who work in one of the most modern laboratory facilities. The team of "Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation" is proud that it constantly organizes meetings and trainings with students who introduce them to their modern equipment, achieving high results.
