Preslav Georgiev, who finished third at the European Canoe-Kayak Championship in Belgrade, was awarded today by the mayor of Ruse, Pencho Milkov.
Georgiev's success was in the 200m single canoe event.
"Until now, Preslav competed with the juniors and as a beginner in the men's race he managed to enter the finals of 1000 meters as well, which is also a great achievement," reported his coach from SK "Georgi Demirev" Eva Pasheva.
The canoeist talked about the biggest challenges of the competition and shared that his focus from now on is the world championships in Szeged, Hungary, which starts on September 1. There he will face the strong Hungarian canoe school, but he is confident that he will perform well.
"Each victory increases the expectations for you, but this is another way in which sport builds not only physical strength and endurance, but also mental strength," said Pencho Milkov.
In addition to the cash prize, the mayor also presented the young canoeist with a medal with the coat of arms of Ruse, wishing him to carry his hometown in his heart and to stay competing for it.
