Mayor Pencho Milkov laid flowers at the Hristo Botev monument in Bucharest

By laying wreaths and flowers at the monument of Hristo Botev, the Bulgarian community in Bucharest commemorated the 175th anniversary of the birth of the prominent poet and revolutionary. The initiative was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Romania and among the official guests of the event were the Mayor Pencho Milkov, Ambassador Radko Vlajkov and the Governor of Ruse Anatoly Stanev.
"Botev bequeathed to us something very valuable, namely to see the great goal beyond every obstacle and not to be stopped by fear and uncertainty. He could not see Bulgaria free, but in his mind the shackles of oppression had long since been broken. "
With these words the Mayor Pencho Milkov addressed the audience. He expressed his gratitude to the Bulgarian community in Romania, who always gather to honour the commemorative date.

The event was also attended by the Executive Director of Euroregion Danubius Association Lili Gancheva, the Director of Hristo Botev School Teodor Kotsev, as well as the entire diplomatic corps of our mission in Bucharest. Traditionally, the event was also attended by representatives of the Union of Banat Bulgarians in Romania, the Democratic Union of Bulgarians in Romania, as well as the Bulgarian Joy and Bulgarian Springs Associations.
In front of the monument of Botev a guard of honour from the regional club "Angel Kanchev" in Ruse to the National Society "Tradition" was built. The chairman of the Bulgarian community "Brotherhood" in Romania, Luka Velchov, announced that tomorrow at 10 a. m. a tour of Bucharest will be held, including the places where Hristo Botev lived, worked and dreamed.
