The graduates of the Sports School "Major Atanas Uzunov" Stefan Stefanov and Nikola Dimov were awarded by Mayor Pencho Milkov for "Sportsmen of the Month" for May and June respectively.
"I wish you strength and wisdom to build and defend sometimes difficult decisions. What you have learned at the Sports School will help you throughout your life and will give you confidence in your abilities," the mayor addressed the young athletes.
Stefan Stefanova is a native of Tutrakan and is a graduate of the Sports Wrestling Club "Yunak - Lokomotiv" with personal coach Sava Semkov. With his debut at the European Championship for boys in May, he became European champion under 15 years old in Loutraki, Greece. In the final of the 85-kilogram freestyle, he won with a technical touch 10:0 over the Moldovan Eugen Dohater in 82 seconds. The young wrestler is also the champion of Bulgaria in the boys category up to 85 kg. and over 85 kg. The citizen of Ruse will be in eighth grade in the new school year.
Nikola Dimov trains canoe-kayak in the Ruse club "Lokomotiv" and is already a republican champion. The young athlete is also the winner of two silver medals from the State Individual Championship for senior juniors. The rower from Ruse comes from a sports family - his mother was engaged in gymnastics, and his father trained football. The rower lives in the village of Nikolovo and travels to the city by bicycle every day, and according to him, this helps him significantly in preparing for competitions.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev, the Director of the Municipal Enterprise "Sports Properties" Lacezar Ivanov and the Director of the Sports School Evgeni Nedev.
