Ruse Municipality has been approved for a project to replace old heating appliances with new more environmentally friendly devices

Ruse Municipality has been approved for funding under a direct grant procedure related to the replacement of solid fuel appliances with environmentally friendly alternatives. The value of the project proposal is 36 966 315 BGN.

The project will replace old solid fuel stoves and boilers with other types of high efficiency heating devices - air conditioners, heat pumps and pellets. Dismantled heating devices will be handed over for subsequent treatment. The revenues from their transfer will be invested in the implementation of green measures included in the Municipal Programme for Improving the Ambient Air Quality of the Municipality of Ruse.

The aim of the project is to contribute to the improvement of ambient air quality (AQ) by reducing the excess levels of fine particulate matter (PM10) in the territory of municipalities with impaired air quality for this indicator in the period 2017-2021.

The direct grant procedure No BG16FFPR002-5. 001 is under measure "For Cleaner Air!" under Priority 5 "Air" of the Environment Programme 2021-2027.
