The construction of a photovoltaic system on the roof of "Rusalka" kindergarten has started
Replacement of most of the lighting fixtures in Ruse and introduction of an Information System for planning, monitoring and control of electricity costs for street lighting are the main objectives of a project being implemented by Ruse Municipality. Among them is the construction of two photovoltaic systems for the production of electricity for own needs - on the roofs of the kindergarten "Rusalka" and the Home for the elderly "Vazrazhdane", and the construction site in the kindergarten has already started.
This became clear at the inaugural conference of the project "Implementation of energy efficiency measures on the outdoor artificial lighting system in the city of Ruse, Ruse Municipality". It is funded under the Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Energy Security Programme of the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and also includes the construction of a local automatic control system for three boulevards - Hristo Botev, Vasil Levski and Gotse Delchev.
The inaugural press conference, which took place within two days, was opened in the conference hall of Hotel Dunav by the Deputy Mayor of Ruse Municipality Zlatomira Stefanova. She stressed the importance of the project, which is part of the planned activities of the local administration related to the implementation of measures to increase energy efficiency in the city and the municipality.
In the words of the project manager - deputy mayor Magdalena Ilieva, after replacing the street lighting with energy-efficient lamps will be saved annually nearly 112 000 euros. The replacement will cover the following areas: the districts "Druzhba-1", "Druzhba-2", "Druzhba-3", "Charodeika-North", "Charodeika-South" and the main streets - Blvd. "Hristo Botev", Blvd. "Gotse Delchev", Blvd. "Vasil Levski", Blvd. "Bulgaria", Blvd. "Lipnik", ul. "Pliska", ul. "Naum", ul. "Dorostol" and Blvd. "Tutrakan".
The value of the project is BGN 1 541 364, of which BGN 783 289 is a grant. and an own contribution of BGN 758 075, which includes a reduction of carbon emissions by 1400 tonnes.
The press conference was also attended by business representatives, stakeholders and the contractor for the construction of the PV systems. The agenda also included a presentation of the project "Ruse - Low Carbon City", which is funded by the European City Facility - EUCF and the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme. The Director of Municipal Transport-Ruse Alexander Georgiev took part in the talks and presented the new goals and challenges for the company related to achieving energy efficiency in urban transport.
The meeting ended with a visit to the University of Rousse, where at a round table the participants and partners got acquainted with the work of the students in the field of energy efficiency in public and private transport. During the talks, good practices of the Faculty of Transport and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation in the field of energy efficiency and renewable sources were shared.
The final phase of the inaugural conference on the second day included the opening of the construction site related to the construction of the photovoltaic power generation system on the roof of the "Rusalka" kindergarten. On the spot before the partners were presented and implemented in the past projects related to the replacement of street lighting on the boulevards "Tsar Osvoboditel", "Pridunavski", "Third March" and others.
