Thanks to the twelfth-grader Ivelin Ivanov from Ruse, Bulgaria triumphed for the second time at the European Debate Championship in German. The graduate of the ''Friedrich Schiller'' Secondary School won the prestigious competition, which brought together participants from all over Europe to discuss socially significant topics. After seven intense rounds during the year, Ivelin managed to win the great success in the final, which took place in Berlin.
"I am extremely pleased that I won and did not expect it at all," said the twelfth-grader.
Behind Ivelin's success is his intensive preparation with the help of his philosophy teacher and coordinator of youth debates at the ''Friedrich Schiller'' Secondary School Siyana Mandadzhieva. With her support, as well as with that of the director of the educational institution Iskra Ivanova, in May this year the student from Deutsche Schule became the winner of the national competition in youth debates in German.
After the triumph in Berlin, the young man from Ruse began preparing for graduating from high school. "I am about to take a matriculation exam in Bulgarian and an exam in German. I want to study computer science in Germany, probably in a smaller town," Ivelin told bTV reporters.
At the European competition in Berlin, he represented Bulgaria together with Kristina Stoyanova from ''Erich Kestner'' Private National University, Sofia.
