Bulgaria finished 6th in the final ranking
The Canoe Kayak Marathon World Cup, which took place on the dam in the Lipnik Forest Park within two days, has finished. The competition was organized by Ruse Municipality, the Bulgarian Canoe Kayak Federation and the International Canoe Kayak Federation. Bulgaria finished sixth in the final standings with one gold and one silver medal.
Dimitar Petrov triumphed first with single kayak at a distance of 3400 m in 18 minutes and 6,83 seconds. His was also the silver medal for overcoming a long distance, which he covered in 1 hour and 7 minutes.
The best results were shown by the team of Ukraine, which finished with 6 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals. The Germans finished second, taking home 2 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals. Hungary finished its participation with 3 gold and 2 silver awards.
Bulgaria showed excellent results in the veterans' long-distance race on Saturday.
Milen Mitov grabbed bronze in the discipline "K1" in the age group "35 - 49". In the same discipline, but in the group "50 - 59" years and the three places on the podium were for Bulgarians - Ivan Ishev, Ognyan Stefanov and Stefan Popov.
In the "60+" the gold went to Kiril Florov and the bronze - to Stanimir Ivanov.
There was no shortage of female participation in the veterans. In the discipline "K1" in the age group "35 - 49" Nina Mekereshka and Elena Petkova became first and second respectively. Veterans "50 +" again in "K1" was dominated entirely by compatriots - Darina Mikhailova with gold, Elka Ivanov - silver and Larisa Naydenova with bronze medal.
All the participants were fascinated by the conditions of the dam in Lipnik Forest Park, and the Bulgarian Canoe Kayak Federation thanked Ruse Municipality for the organization and good cooperation. Ruse Municipality expresses its gratitude to all institutions, partners and sponsors who contributed to the realization of the event.
