The Mayor of Ruse, Pencho Milkov, held an official meeting today with the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Burgas, Tolga Orkun. The main topic of the talks was the prospects for the development of economic, cultural and educational cooperation between Ruse and municipalities in Turkey. Milkov introduced the Turkish diplomat to the leading goals of his team, aimed at the development of Ruse in economic, social and cultural terms, as well as the establishment of the city as an attractive tourist destination in Northeastern Bulgaria.

The Mayor of Ruse emphasized that the most important element in building successful partnerships is trust and mutual understanding. “When people communicate sincerely and with respect, then opportunities for business cooperation open up, as well as for the development of social and cultural ties,” said Milkov.

The Turkish Consul, for his part, expressed his readiness to encourage more active economic cooperation, noting the strategic location of Ruse and the key role of the region in the development of the field related to the production of automotive components. He added that his mission includes creating new partnerships in business and education, as well as supporting exchanges between universities and academic circles from Bulgaria and Turkey.

Tolga Orkun emphasized that Ruse has great potential for development and expressed his readiness to assist in organizing visits of Turkish business delegations to the city. At the same time, he shared that he is emotionally connected to Bulgaria, as his ancestors come from the Danube region, which creates in him strong and warm feelings for the Bulgarian people.

Opportunities for cultural exchange were also discussed, including organizing events promoting the traditional folklore and customs of the two countries. Partnership in the field of tourism was also indicated as a priority, with an emphasis on promoting the region as an attractive destination for tourists from Turkey.

The diplomat assured that he will continue to work actively to strengthen bilateral relations and implement future joint projects, because he believes in the long-standing friendship between the two peoples.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Dimitar Nedev, Ivaylo Kadishev, Director of the Directorate for Economy, Investments, International Cooperation and Projects, and Zhivodar Georgiev, Senior Expert in the Directorate.

The recital competition "For Bulgaria to Have It" will be held on February 22, 2025. The event is dedicated to the national holiday of Bulgaria, March 3. The goal of the literary forum is to popularize Bulgarian poetry and preserve the national self-esteem of young people. In the 21st edition of the competition, children will compete in three age groups:

I age group - from 1 to 4 grades; 

II age group - from 5 to 7 grades; 

III age group - from 8 to 12 grades.

Participants will recite poems in two directions - Renaissance literature and Contemporary literature. Those wishing to participate in the event are registered in the age group in the order of submitted applications for participation. The deadline for submitting applications is 5 p.m. on February 14, 2025. Registration of participants on the day of the competition will not be carried out.

The organizer of the competition is the Municipal Youth Center in Ruse, which has provided diplomas for all participants and prizes for the winners.

On December 15 (Sunday) from 10 a.m. in the building of Municipal Youth House Ruse will be held Christmas chess tournament, organized by Chess Club "Priests' and Municipal Youth House. 

The tournament is carried out with the support of the Municipality of Ruse and is open to all chess lovers - children, youth and adults. Family teams are especially encouraged to compete in a separate category. 

The tournament will be held according to the Swiss system in 7 rounds, which guarantees dynamics and equality. 

 Each team must consist of two members of the family. If there are more than two participants from the same family, the results of the two best performers will be taken into account. The ranking of the teams will be based on the sum of the points. In the event of a tie in points, the team with the best individual ranking will take the first place. At the discretion of the organizers, it is possible to organize a separate tournament for children up to 8 years old if there are enough participants.

By the end of the week, employees of  ME "Parkstroy" will plant 30 new trees in the Youth Park. Among the planted species are linden, silver maple and ash. They will be located in places where the sanitary cutting of dried trees was previously carried out, in order to restore the natural plant balance.

We remind that at the end of last month, the municipal enterprise planted 20 trees of the same species.

The initiative is part of the Reforestation Program of the Municipality of Ruse for 2024/2025, aimed at the conservation and development of green areas in the city.

Experts remind that the period from November to March is the most suitable time for planting trees. During this season, when the leaves have fallen and the growing process has ended, young seedlings can more easily adapt to the new conditions.

Mayor Pencho Milkov visited today the renovated mini-football field at the Yalta Sports Complex. The field measuring 36 by 16 meters was completely renovated with funds from the Ruse Municipality.

The old surface, which no longer meets the requirements, was removed and replaced with new artificial grass. In addition, the base of the pitch was graded to remove any bumps on it.

The ordinary net, which served as a fence of the field, has been replaced with modern 3D panels, which not only give a modern and attractive appearance to the sports field, but also provide stronger and more reliable protection against vandals and encroachments. 

The players will also enjoy a revamped football door. The previous ones were dismantled and then fortified, galvanised, painted and reinstalled.  

Mayor Pencho Milkov stressed that the new field will be much more comfortable and pleasant for training. He added the need to protect the renovated sites, in which municipal funds are invested, so that we can enjoy the new benefits for a long time.

The mini field continues to be managed by the Municipal Enterprise "Sports Properties", which will provide the field according to the schedule so that if necessary everyone can benefit from the modern field, Deputy Mayor for Youth Activities and Sports Borislav Rachev said. He confirmed that the schedule will include the willing teenagers, sports clubs and pensioner groups.
