The Mayor of Ruse, Pencho Milkov, held an official meeting today with the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Burgas, Tolga Orkun. The main topic of the talks was the prospects for the development of economic, cultural and educational cooperation between Ruse and municipalities in Turkey. Milkov introduced the Turkish diplomat to the leading goals of his team, aimed at the development of Ruse in economic, social and cultural terms, as well as the establishment of the city as an attractive tourist destination in Northeastern Bulgaria.
The Mayor of Ruse emphasized that the most important element in building successful partnerships is trust and mutual understanding. “When people communicate sincerely and with respect, then opportunities for business cooperation open up, as well as for the development of social and cultural ties,” said Milkov.
The Turkish Consul, for his part, expressed his readiness to encourage more active economic cooperation, noting the strategic location of Ruse and the key role of the region in the development of the field related to the production of automotive components. He added that his mission includes creating new partnerships in business and education, as well as supporting exchanges between universities and academic circles from Bulgaria and Turkey.
Tolga Orkun emphasized that Ruse has great potential for development and expressed his readiness to assist in organizing visits of Turkish business delegations to the city. At the same time, he shared that he is emotionally connected to Bulgaria, as his ancestors come from the Danube region, which creates in him strong and warm feelings for the Bulgarian people.
Opportunities for cultural exchange were also discussed, including organizing events promoting the traditional folklore and customs of the two countries. Partnership in the field of tourism was also indicated as a priority, with an emphasis on promoting the region as an attractive destination for tourists from Turkey.
The diplomat assured that he will continue to work actively to strengthen bilateral relations and implement future joint projects, because he believes in the long-standing friendship between the two peoples.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Dimitar Nedev, Ivaylo Kadishev, Director of the Directorate for Economy, Investments, International Cooperation and Projects, and Zhivodar Georgiev, Senior Expert in the Directorate.
